The Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for both research and education at the University of Tasmania. The IMAS Taroona facility is located on the banks of the Derwent River, just 15 minutes south of Hobart, and is home to our dedicated Fisheries and Aquaculture Centre.
The Fisheries and Aquaculture Centre
The Fisheries and Aquaculture Centre houses innovative facilities and an extensive capacity to support cutting-edge national and international scientific research. Taroona is the hub for our Fisheries and Aquaculture program with aquarium facilities, a world-leading Experimental Aquaculture facility, and the Institute’s vessel fleet, all located on-site.
